Is there an open bar, as they have with the buffet
Yes during dinner
Do they have a vegan option?
Yes they have vegan options if you let them know in advance. They have vegetable stir fry with rice that is amazing. You still have the options on the buffet as well. But the sorr fry is plated and brought out to you separately which worked well for me since I'm not a fan of buffet style eating.
What is the cost?
Cheaper if you get the package of Fern Grotto and the Luau.
Can you reserve a table with a party of 14? And do you sit at this same table to watch the show?
The tables each sat about 12 (I'm not sure of the exact number), but they did reserve tables for large groups or those who needed special accommodations. I'm sure they would figure a way to keep your party together. It's first come seating for all others. The performance is in another area and is fantastic!
We can be picked up at Pride of American Cruise ship for 14.00. Is that a round trip fare?
You should call the gardens or the tour company proving the ride to confirm. This site is maintained by Google and the plantation isn't likely to see your request for info.

We just moved to Kauai and would love to see Smith Family Farms. Would you consider opening one a week/month or something?
We are currently doing some projects in the gardens while the travel restrictions to the islands are in effect. We hope to reopen the gardens in November, but may open a couple days a week in October, depending on our project progress. Mahalo.
How far is this attraction from the cruise ship port? What would be the best form of transportation to get from the ship to your garden luau?
The cruise ship port at Nawiliwili is about 7 miles South of our location at the Wailua River Marina. If coming to the luau, transportation is available when making reservations at www.smithskauai.com. $18 per person for the round trip transportation. Luau bus departs ship at 4:30pm and returns after the luau is over, back on board the ship around 9:30pm. Other modes of transport is taxi (about $30 each way) and there are a limited number of Uber and Lyft drivers on the island. Since you're on the island over night, it might be good to rent a car for the day and take in the island sites at your own pace. Aloha!

Aloha... unfortunately, we don't have a luau scheduled when you're on Kauai on the night of January 30. Our luau schedule in January is Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. The ship offers a great luau as one of it's shore excursions or you may check out Roberts Hawaii Shore Excursions https://www.rhshorex.com/kauai/islands-best-luau/. They usually book our family's luau when we're open but in January, they book into the Luau Makaiwa at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort. Enjoy your cruise around the Hawaiian Islands!
I would love to have your recipe for the Mai Tai's that were served. What kind of rum was used and was it a mix used for the drinks? They were mild but delicious! Thanks

Overall it was a good experience. Food was good, but not great. Prices were lower than just about anywhere else on the island. Staff was very friendly. Waiter said they do a lot of business with locals, but not tourists. Building and decor need updated.
